The bus driver has been cited for careless driving, DeLand officials said.

Detectives are trying to identify skeletal remains found near Interstate 4 in DeLand.

Investigators say, Jason Nicholas Minton, 43,  is accused of taking a woman from an Ormond Beach restaurant without her consent, before sexually assaulting her inside his vehicle at another location.

According to the school, a student reported hearing another student say to someone that he was going to “shoot someone.”

A 28-year-old man was arrested after police say he fled from the scene of a stabbing, later crashing on Stetson University campus. 

Volunteers put a fresh coat of paint on the buildings at Journey's End, a DeLand animal shelter with deep roots and a 40-year history that's recently fallen on hard times. 

An animal sanctuary that was recently raided by Volusia County sheriff's deputies is now getting help from the community. Journey's End is getting ready for a cleanup after 16 animals were removed from their facility after deputies said they were in need of immediate medical attention.

One man was rushed to the hospital after a shooting near an elementary school in DeLand Monday afternoon. 

A Florida deputy found the dog severely emaciated, unable to move, obviously suffering, and lying in its own feces. Her condition was so bad that the dog had to be euthanized.

Rodrigo Reyes, 48, was arrested and charged with forcible rape and kidnapping in connection to an incident in November 2019.

The truck, who became stuck on the tracks, was thrown 500-feet when hit by the train, FHP reported.

Authorities say 16 animals -- including nine cats and seven dogs -- have been removed from an animal sanctuary in DeLand. Many of the animals are said to be highly "adoptable."

Deputies said that they are concerned about Peter because he has dementia.

A tornado was captured on a DeLand man's home security cameras on Saturday.

An EF0 tornado touched down and lasted about 30 seconds.
