The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday broke ground on a new $20 million training center in Viera that will serve as a regional hub for advanced law enforcement instruction. The facility will feature classrooms, shooting ranges, and other specialized training spaces. Sheriff Wayne Ivey called the project a major investment in the agency’s future. Half of the project’s funding — $10 million — comes from federal dollars.
