It has been three months since Florida's "Super Speeder" law went into effect, increasing penalties for people who drive over 100 mph or 50 mph over the posted speed limit. Under the law, drivers can be cuffed and arrested. FOX 35 reached out to various agencies to see how many people have been arrested under the new law.

Florida questions Orlando, Orange County spending

Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia took a poetic approach to his criticism of alleged spending by some cities and counties in the state, part of the Florida DOGE team's financial audits of those cities. Ingoliga and Gov. Ron DeSantis discussed the findings of the Florida DOGE audit during a press conference on Wednesday. "Stop waste" read the sign on the podium. "These audits have uncovered many irresponsible uses of taxpayer funds. It's unconscionable for local governments to raise taxes on Floridians in order to subsidize wasteful spending," Gov. Desantis said in a statement, noting that Florida's DOGE team has visited 12 cities and counties in the state "to seek out waste, fraud, and abuse."

New details in Epic Universe Stardust Racers death

The Orange County Sheriff's Office released the incident report from the night first responders arrived at Universal's Epic Universe theme park after a 32-year-old man -- later identified as Kevin Rodriguez Zavala -- became unresponsive while on the Stardust Racers coaster and died. The new report details the response time, timeline, and where Zavala was on the ride. Zavala died from blunt force injuries, the Orange County Medical Examiner determined.

State senator calls for suspension of Palm Bay councilman

A Florida state senator is calling for the suspension of a Palm Bay city council member after a series of social media posts that were criticized as racist toward Indian Americans. State Sen. Debbie Mayfield, R-Melbourne, sent a letter Tuesday to Gov. Ron DeSantis urging him to suspend Councilman Chandler Langevin. Mayfield described Langevin?s posts as ?repulsive and hateful,? writing that ?racism should be rejected in all aspects.?
