Gov. DeSantis appoints Florida's new CFO

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis hosted a press conference on Wednesday in Tampa, where he announced the appointment of the Sunshine State's new Chief Financial Officer. Republican Blaise Ingoglia, 54, will fill the vacancy. Ingoglia previously served in the House and as Chair of the Republican Party of Florida.

New diabetes law now in effect

On Friday morning, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis led FOX & Friends Anchor Steve Doocy on a tour of "Alligator Alcatraz." Florida is using its emergency powers to take over the remote, 30-square-mile site in the Everglades to build an immigration detention center. The state said the site will hold up to 5,000 immigration detainees and will operate under the current state of emergency. Construction is already underway.

DeSantis says the new accreditor will ensure that colleges and universities meet and maintain academic quality and operational excellence on behalf of their students. The commission will include six public university systems that will focus on academic excellence, student outcomes, process efficiency and the pursuit of quality assurance for public post-secondary education.
