Physician and researcher Joseph Ladapo was named Florida surgeon general on Tuesday, calling for being "done with fear" amid the COVID-19 pandemic that has killed more than 51,000 of the state’s residents.
"We’re facing a massive, massive cut in monoclonal antibody treatments abruptly. Just after the president said they would have a 50 percent increase, we’re now seeing more than a 50 percent cut for the state of Florida."

DeSantis said he expects hospitalizations to drop in the next couple of weeks, asserting that the spike is seasonal as Floridians spend more time together indoors to escape the summer heat and humidity.
"We are not shutting down," DeSantis said. "We are going to have schools open. We are protecting every Floridian’s job in this state."
