NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said there might be a Super Bowl overseas if the league expands and adds an international team.

What they're saying:

"I do think there’s potential that someday we will have an international franchise. If we do, it will not surprise me at all if a Super Bowl follows and is played there," Goodell said per the Associated Press.

The NFL has worked to expand its brand globally by holding regular season games in England, Germany, Mexico and Brazil through the years, and there’s a game scheduled for 2025 in Spain.

Super Bowls are played in NFL stadiums and international venues for football’s biggest event have not been discussed.

According to the AP, a Super Bowl overseas would create challenges with time zones for broadcasters based in the U.S.
