Two cats and a dog dead after elderly woman's house goes up in flames

Firefighters are working to figure out what sparked an early morning house fire in Deltona.

Firefighters say that an older woman was inside the home on Brady Drive when the fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday. One of her dogs made it out okay but her two cats and another dog died.

Richard Metro lives next door and woke up to his neighbor's car on fire. What he did next possibly saved her life. He says that he "ran out and I went to her house and I just started pounding on her window and trying to get her up or get her out of the house. The car just exploded and the entire house caught on fire."

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but the Fire Marshal's office is investigating.
