Police: Security officer impersonates police officer during fight, threatens that he has a gun

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says that on the afternoon of December 12th, a deputy responded to an AutoZone on West Vine Street in Kissimmee. An armed disturbance was reported. 

Upon arrival, the Auto Zone manager reportedly told a deputy that two males, identified as Edward Rodriguez and Franklin Guiterrez, were arguing in the parking lot of the store. The two began to fist fight and Edward pulled out a hand gun and badge and stated "Are you stupid? I'm a cop." 

The Auto Zone manager continued to speak to the deputy, saying that Franklin then said that he was going to call 911. Edward responded by saying "Good. Call them cause they will be here fast cause I'm a cop."

The report shows that the deputy then made contact with Franklin. The deputy says that Franklin told him that after beginning to argue and fight with Edward, He also confirmed that Edward did then pull out a gun and badge and stated that he was a cop. He even told Franklin to get on the ground. However, Franklin noticed the badge was a security badge and then got up off the ground. 

Franklin reportedly told the deputy that he was in fear for his life and that he was going to be shot, so he grabbed the gun from Edward and pushed it away from him. He then went on to call 911.

The deputy said he also made contact with a witness of the fight, who was standing next to Edward and heard him state that he was a cop while the two were fighting. 

The deputy says that the witness told the deputy that she did not see a gun, but knew that Edward had one. 

When on scene, the deputy said that Edward and Franklin were already separated. Franklin had a red mark on the side of his face and a cut on his finger. Edward informed him that he was a security guard and had a gun in his vehicle. The deputy confirmed that there was a 45 caliber in his truck. He also did have a security officer badge and concealed weapons permit. The weapon was loaded without a round in the chamber.

The deputy says that the parking lot and surrounding stores did not have cameras that could have captured the interaction. 

The deputy charged Edward with Aggravated Assault and False Impersonation of a Law Enforcement Officer. He was placed in custody and transported to the Osceola County Jail.
