Florida deputies still searching for answers in cold case murder 40 years later
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. - Deputies said they still are searching for answers in a cold case murder that took place 40 years ago today in Florida.
The Alachua County Sheriff's Office said Gerald Davis, 28, was murdered on Feb. 5, 1985.
Today, officials are still asking the public for help in bringing forth any information to help identify Davis' killer.

What happened to Gerald Davis?
The backstory:
The Alachua County Sheriff's Office said they found Davis' body just after midnight on Lakeshore Drive near Newnan's Lake.
Deputies said Davis' car was found at a separate location the following morning.
Through an investigation, sheriffs said they determined that Davis was shot to death.
Although officials said the homicide investigation has revealed several possible people of interest in Davis' killing, no suspects have been arrested.

Deputies said the review of the case files in the Davis homicide has indicated there are several items of evidence that are being considered for further laboratory analysis and testing.
