Standing before a crowd at Rosen Plaza in Orlando on Thursday, DeSantis named Florida State Attorney General Ashley Moody as the state’s newest U.S. Senator.
What they're saying:
"That is why today I’m proud to announce I’m selecting our attorney general, Ashley Moody, to serve as our next US senator," DeSantis said.
"Governor, I want you to know I will not let you down. I will not let the citizens of Florida down, and I will not let my country down," Moody said.
The Florida governor praised Moody’s record of public service, emphasizing her commitment to law and order, as well as her dedication to Floridians.
"I want somebody that’s gonna work with Trump to deliver on the mandate he earned from the American people. I want a senator who is going to lean in against the excessive spending in cut spending and stop inflation. I want someone who understands the federal bureaucracy must be held to account, and we need three branches of government not four branches of government," he said.
