The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical storm and a disturbance in the Atlantic Ocean. Hurricane Erin officially became post-tropical on Saturday, the NHC said. None of these systems are expected to directly impact Florida or the United States.

Tropical Storm Fernand has formed in the Atlantic Ocean, becoming the 6th named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. Fernand is expected to stay out into the ocean and does not currently pose a threat to Florida or the United States.

The setup will also translate into no hurricane concerns for the continental United States for the foreseeable future, as developing cyclones will turn away from North America into the open Atlantic.

Hurricane Erin’s core missed the U.S., but the cyclone led to flooded roadways and eroded dunes. Coastal flooding was reported in North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, and New York.

The National Hurricane Center is tracking two disturbances in the Atlantic Ocean for potential tropical development – a sign that the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season is entering its active period. Hurricane Erin, which is beginning to weaken, continues to move up the southeastern coast of the United States, the NHC said.

A weak front is stalled across the Southeast and that will keep our rain chances elevated as we kick off the weekend. Along the beaches, there is still a risk of dangerous surf and rip currents due to Hurricane Erin.
