Woman found shot to death inside Deltona home

DELTONA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Volusia County deputies are investigating a suspicious death in Deltona.

Crime scene investigators on Tuesday removed boxes and evidence bags from the home on Dearing Avenue.  

Authorities said that, on Monday night, an electrician who went to the home to work saw the front door open.  When he looked inside, deputies said he saw the owner of the home, 25-year-old Monquavia Hamilton on the floor, not moving.  He called 911. 

Deputies say she was fatally shot and might have been targeted.  Neighbor Susan Rawson said people who live in the area are worried.

"It's very scary to know it's so close. I live directly behind the house," she said.

Deputies said this appears to be an isolated case.
