Wolf that escaped from Florida preserve after hurricane found safe

CHIPLEY, Fla. (FOX 13) - A wolf missing for days from a Florida preserve after Hurricane Michael slammed into the area has been found.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported on Facebook that the grey wolf, named Tahané, was found in Ebro, Florida. A deputy happened to be in the area and spotted the wolf. Additional first responders arrived and the deputy lost sight of Tahané. 

However, once its owner arrived, the wolf quickly came to her side. Tahané has since returned to its home at Seacrest Wolf Preserve in Chipley, which is in Washington County. 

“Tahané has spent the last 16 years of his life as an ambassador in our educational programs and has been touched, held, and loved on by thousands of people,” the preserve wrote in a post on Facebook  after his disappearance. “He is scared and traumatized by Hurricane Michael which is what has caused him to flee to the woods.”
