Sorry, folks — you won’t be betting real money on wild cards just yet.

UNO has issued a public statement debunking viral rumors that the iconic card game would be playable for cash on the casino floors in Las Vegas. "We hate to be the bearers of bad news," the company wrote, "but the casino floor isn’t ready for us yet."

UNO’s statement, posted to Facebook and other social platforms, came after confusion swirled online around its upcoming pop-up at the Palms Casino Resort. The event — called the UNO Social Club — is still happening, but it’s a private, themed experience without gambling involved.

The company leaned into its playful tone, saying, "This isn’t a Reverse card." They added that although the Palms event is going forward, the broader UNO Social Club experience will expand to bars in Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Atlanta and Austin starting this August.

Where the rumor came from

The backstory:

The speculation began after Mattel’s May press release announced the first-ever UNO Social Club at the Palms, which promised "exclusive game variants," themed rooms, and immersive experiences — all inside a highly decorated hotel suite.

While the company never said gambling would be part of the experience, the idea took off online anyway, prompting the brand to issue a humorous but firm correction.

UNO says that while "they do have tight security," Las Vegas casino floors just aren’t "robust enough for UNO at this time."

What's next:

The invite-only UNO suite at the Palms Casino runs July 18–20 and includes a private bowling alley, a game host, and custom versions of UNO like UNO GolfUNO Teams, and UNO Show ’em No Mercy. One lucky winner and a guest were selected via TikTok contest to attend.

Future pop-ups in August will bring the UNO Social Club to nightlife venues across the country, with themed drinks, photo ops, and tournament-style play — but still, no gambling.
