Stretch of State Road 40 will shut down for repairs in Marion County

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) says that beginning on Wednesday at about 6 p.m., the westbound lane on the Ocklawaha River bridge along State Road 40, east of Ocala, will be closed for approximately 24 hours.

They say that the lane closure will allow workers to repair a damaged cement railing. However, the closure may also cause significant delays in travel time, so motorists may want to seek an alternate route during the construction.

Flagging operation, off-duty law enforcement officers, and electronic message boards will be used to help manage and direct traffic.
