School bus clipped by train in Bushnell; no injuries reported
BUSHNELL, Fla. - A school bus was struck by a train Thursday afternoon in Bushnell.
Though no injuries were reported among students or staff, authorities said.

The crash occurred at the intersection of East Central Avenue and North Market Street, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Officials said the rear of the bus, identified as Bus 2517, was clipped by the train.

All railroad crossings in Bushnell were closed following the crash, except for Belt Avenue, as authorities urged drivers to expect delays and seek alternate routes.
Superintendent Logan W. Brown said he visited the scene and confirmed that all students and staff were safe. He credited first responders and school administrators for their quick actions in securing the scene and ensuring students were safely released to their families.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office and the Sumter County School District.

"This afternoon, one of our school buses (Bus 2517) was involved in an accident in which the rear of the bus was clipped by a train. I had the opportunity to visit the scene shortly after the incident.
"I am grateful to report that there were no reported injuries to any students or staff. Student safety is our top priority, and we are incredibly thankful that everyone is safe.
"The incident is currently under review by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and the Sumter County School District.
