ORLANDO, Fla. - Dozens of people gathered outside Orlando City Hall on Sunday afternoon in protest of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), following a deadly shooting in Minneapolis.
Similar protests – some dubbed "Ice out for good" – have been planned in cities across the United States. It comes months after similar protests – then dubbed "No Kings Protests" were held over the summer, including in Orlando.
Renee Mackline Good was shot and killed inside her vehicle last week in Minneapolis, sparking widespread reaction across the nation. The shooting was captured on camera from multiple angles.
The backstory:
Leaders in Minnesota and Minneapolis quickly condemned the shooting of Good and how the agents involved handled the situation. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has strongly criticized the agents' actions, ICe, and the federal government in wake of the shooting.
The Department of Homeland Security and ICE argued the shooting was in self-defense, accusing Good of ignoring agents' commands to get out of her vehicle and then attempting to drive away, putting the agents in harms way.
