One year after Hurricane Irma flooded Orlo Vista

The wind was howling, and everyone knew a hurricane was blowing through Orlando.

But for many in Orange County's Orlo Vista neighborhood, the first indication things were really bad was an unexpected knock on the front door.

In the dark that dangerous night, people in Orlo Vista could not tell that the lakes, which nearly surround the community, had crested their banks and water was drowning the neighborhood.

Those surprise knocks on the door were National Guard troops sent in to rescue people from the flooding.

One year later, some have moved away from Orlo Vista and their damaged lives.

Others have recovered, but some are still waiting for help.

The News Station's Tom Johnson spent time in the neighborhood talk to people about that horrible night and what's happened since.
