Officer-involved shooting in Rockledge under investigation

ROCKLEDGE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A large law enforcement presence was active overnight after an officer-involved shooting in Rockledge, FDLE said.

Police responded to multiple calls about car burglaries around 11:30 p.m. when they witnessed a 17-year-old and 15-year-old stealing from one car.

The teens took off in a white Toyota Camry that rammed into a patrol car before crashing into a ditch.

An officer shot the 17-year-old as the suspects attempted to flee the accident scene. The 15-year-old was able to evade police initially, but was caught several hours later.

The 17-year-old is listed in stable condition in the hospital. No officers were hurt in the incident.
