Man faces after trying to set girlfriend on fire

An Orange County man is facing charges after police say that he set his girlfriend on fire.

Orlando police say the suspect, identified as Osbeli Leocadio Vasquezmendez, had been drinking and tried to drive his girlfriend's truck, despite not having a license. When she tried to stop him, police say that he set both her and the truck on fire.

The girlfriend, identified as Dolores Martinez Zarza, removed the clothing that was on fire, smacked out the flames, and ran for the front door. She put on more clothes, grabbed her kids, and left for safety. As she walked away, Osbeli told her that she better not tell anyone what happened and to think about her kids.

Dolores survived, but it seriously hurt. She told deputies that she fears Osbeli and does not want him back at the house or near her or her children. Osbeli is facing charges of arson.
