Long Island café's special needs staff serves tasty meals

It was a busy day at Terry's Café. The take-out restaurant run through the organization FREE, a nonprofit in Old Bethpage, Long Island, provides training for adults with disabilities. The café is staffed with four paid employees and a handful of volunteers. They serve breakfast and lunch five days a week.

Supervisor Susan Narbutt teaches the essentials:  washing your hands, putting on gloves, wearing hairnets, how to slice, prep and keep food separated.

The catering business received its certification and passed inspection from the Nassau County Department of Health. Now they're able to serve the outside community just like any other restaurant.

Terry's Café went live on GrubHub on Monday. For the first time, anyone within a two-mile radius can order from here. Their goal is to keep growing and expand their service area.

 It's a rewarding job for Chef Bill Harold. He's been cooking for 30 years.

From salads to burgers most items on the menu are less than $5. The money made goes back into the program to help teach, inspire, and build confidence.
