Kiteboarder recovers after slamming into building

A kiteboarder is recovering after being picked up by a gust of wind and slammed into a building. 

Investigators say, at 4:16 p.m. on Tuesday, winds were kicking around 30 miles per hour along the shore of Flagler Beach, when a strong  gust sent athe kiteboarder toward.  He was lifted up and sent right into High Tide Snack Jacks Restaurant and Bar.  

"I was just sitting in my house and just happened to see a wind kite without anybody on it coming across the neighbors house. Next thing I know I saw it come over and land in the power lines," said Earl Terry, who lives across the street.  "Next thing I knew, rescue, police department and a helicopter landed down by the water tower." 

The kiteboarder left a large dent in thr rainspout running down from the restaurant's roof where witnesses say he first struck the building.  Friends tell FOX 35 the 57-year-old victim is still recovering at the hospital, and that he's an avid kiteboarder and sailor.
