Seminole County deputies remained outside a home near Altamonte Springs Monday night after the man who lives inside was found murdered over the weekend.

The victim, identified as 52-year-old Douglas Adams, was discovered dead in his home Saturday afternoon after a woman came to check on him. Investigators say he had been shot.

“It’s like you’re living a nightmare that keeps happening over and over,” said his daughter, who asked us not to use her name. “It’s all very, very overwhelming and it’s hard to believe that it happened.”

The woman says Adams never fought with anyone. She describes him as funny, and says he lived alone with his dog.

“He worked really, really hard. Long hours. He would come home to his dog and they would go in the pool for a couple of hours, make dinner,” the victim’s daughter explained.

Deputies say they don’t think the shooting was random. They’ve been on Georgia Avenue for more than 48 hours trying to figure out who did it.

Investigators say Adams was last seen at his home between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. on Friday.
