COCOA, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Ramps connecting I-95 and S.R. 528 are closing for emergency repair work starting Monday.
The State Road 528 overpass in Cocoa needs to be fixed after a semi-truck hauling construction equipment crashed into it back in March. At the time of the incident, the full interstate was shut down until temporary repairs could be made.
Eastbound State Road 528, west of I-95, will close Monday at 8 p.m. Northbound I-95 will close at the 528 on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The repair work is expected to take about three weeks. Repairs are estimated to cost more than $750,000 and includes replacing a bridge beam that is more than 120-feet long.
Detours will reportedly be well marked and motorists are advised to slow down and follow posted detour signs.
