A Cobb County post office was dedicated Monday to the memory of a metro Atlanta Marine who died in the line of duty.

U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Squire "Skip" Wells was just 21 years old when he was killed during a shooting rampage in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Wells and four other service members were killed by a gunman in a terrorist attack at a Naval reserve and recruitment center in Chattanooga on July 16, 2015. Wells was last seen running to warn colleagues during the ambush.

The U.S. Postal Service dedicated the Marietta Sprayberry Post Office in honor of Wells Monday. Wells' family and friends attended, as well as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price.

"We can never truly understand or repay your loss, but we commit to never, ever forget and remember Marine Lance Corporal Skip Wells, a true American hero," Price said during the dedication ceremony.

Wells was a 2012 graduate of Sprayberry High School, where he was a member of the JROTC and band. He attended Georgia Southern University before joining the military. He wanted to become a drill sergeant.
