Exhibit feature photos taken by homeless

It's a an exercise in humanity, professional photographers paired with folks down on their luck. It's been a real opportunity to give voice to New York City's homeless population. And they are doing it. One snap shot at a time.

Michael weschler and Carl Jordan came in as strangers.

One is an editorial and advertising photographer with more than 30 magazine covers to his credit.

The other is confident and battle tested gentleman who quote "lost it all", a bad divorce and an extended stay on the streets.

It's called "Through the eyes of the Homeless", a collaboration between the Department of Homeless Services and The Heart Gallery.

Five mentors, professional fashion and celebrity photographers  and 14 mentees empowered to tell their own stories.

They got corporate sponsorship. They learned about lighting and shutter speed. They produced beautiful prints, but they also got to know each other.
