Colonial Drive (State Road 50) was shut down in both directions in downtown Orlando for several hours late Friday afternoon as crews responded after a pedestrian was struck by a southbound Amtrak train.  The incident happened just after 2 p.m., right behind the parking structure for the Camden Orange Court Apartments.

Amtrak Train 97, also known as the Silver Meteor, travels daily between New York City and Miami.  "At the time of the incident, 227 passengers were on the train. There are no reported injuries to passengers or crew members," said Amtrak spokesperson Kimberly Woods.

Authorities have not released the identity of the man who was struck by the train.  They are presently investigating how the incident occurred.
