Bicyclist killed in Brevard County
MELBOURNE -- A bicyclist was struck and killed by a car in Melbourne. Emergency crews were called to Post Road near the East Bay Plantation subdivision around 12:45 p.m. Saturday.
Investigators say the driver of a GMC pickup was traveling eastbound on Post Road when several vehicles in front of him moved to the left of center to avoid the bicyclist as she traveled along the shoulder of the road. The driver struck the bicyclist from behind.
The bicyclist is identified as 54-year-old Tamalyn Richter of Melbourne.
The crash closed the roadway for several hours. The incident is still under investigation.
