The family of a 60-year-old grandfather is searching for answers after he was murdered while walking home.

Kirk Dorsey was a family man who spent a good bit of his time doting over his daughters and grandkids. Now they're devastated that someone would take his life.

"My dad was just always positive, always happy, always laughing," Kirk's daughter Randi Dorsey said. "We can't understand why someone would do something like this."

The 60-year-old grandfather of eight was walking home on Childress Drive Saturday night when someone shot and killed him. Now Atlanta Police and the family are trying to piece together exactly what happened.

His family told FOX 5 that Dorsey had lots of friends, loved to go to his favorite spot in the North Highlands neighborhood, Moe's and Joe's, and never met a stranger.

Kirk's friend Dean Handley said he was a friendly and "caring guy."

"He didn't have a mean bone in his body. He wanted to help out," Handley said.

Atlanta Police are checking surveillance video and asking questions to try and find out who would shoot and kill this business owner known for his easy-going personality.

"I want closure for the family more than anyone else, and for his partner," Handley said. "Something needs to be done."

Unfortunately Atlanta Police said they have no leads in the case so far.

They're asking anyone with information that could help to give them a call.
