Banners declare UCF national champs

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - UCF has added a “national champions” banner to its football practice fields outside Spectrum Stadium.

The two banners read “National Champions — The Only 2017 Undefeated Champion.”  Also added are UCF’s conference championships — which now total five — as well as its appearance in the Peach Bowl.

The Knights (13-0) were the only team to finish undefeated in the Football Bowl Subdivision and were sixth in the final Associated Press rankings, receiving four first-place votes.  Among their victories was a 34-27 win over Auburn University in the Peach Bowl on Jan. 1.

Gov. Rick Scott earlier this year signed a proclamation declaring UCF national champions.
