Woman high on meth and molly drops baby while running from deputies, baby's skull fractured
MARION COUNTY, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - A Marion County woman is behind bars after deputies say she dropped a baby while running from law enforcement.
The body cam video shows it all play out. According to the arrest affidavit, Kayla Morgan was running in and out of traffic with a baby -- apparently high -- barking like a dog at cars. During this, she drops her baby on the ground. A witness picks the baby up and responding officers take the baby to safety.
Meanwhile, the chase with Morgan continued until deputies were forced to tase her.
According to the affidavit, Morgan later told deputies at the hospital that she took molly and meth for three days, which addiction professionals say can heighten your sense of reality and non-reality.
The affidavit also states that Morgan later admitted that she believed the deputy "was a monster trying to suck her blood" and that she remembered setting the baby down, but not dropping it.
Morgan is still in jail as of Tuesday morning. The affidavit says that the baby's skull was fractured. The grandmother of the baby says that the baby is out of the hospital and doing well.
