An Osceola County woman has been been charged in the death of her mother.  Detectives with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office on Friday charged Amy Grace Day, 44, with premeditated murder.  Authorities said Day did not cooperate with the investigation in the disappearance and death of Ora "Lea" Taylor Hawkins, but instead provided inconsistent statements to detectives.

Hawkins was reported missing on Sunday by her family. Investigators said her daughter indicated the last time she saw her mother was on Saturday at noon. On the same day, detectives said Day received a call from her mother at approximately 8:25 p.m.  Day told detectives that her mother said she was going to Colorado with a friend from her church.

Deputies found a car belonging to Hawkins at her home on Lake Shore Drive in St. Cloud.  At the same time, detectives determined that the missing woman's cellphone had been turned off, which led them to believe her disappearance was suspicious.  After searching the property, deputies found a body behind the home, which was later identified as Hawkins.

On Tuesday, detectives arrested Day and charged her with providing false Information to law enforcement.  Day, who is already in the Osceola County Jail for a related charge, will remain behind bars on a no bond status.
