Troopers say fleeing robber injured 2 in crash

Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol continue to search for a very dangerous hit-and-run suspect who is also accused of robbery.

Investigators said 52-year-old Kim Lovre is critical, and her 16-year-old daughter, Leia, is in serious condition after their car was left mangled by a fleeing suspect.  It happened on Lake Howell Road in Casselberry on Tuesday afternoon, as Winter Park Police were pursuing the suspect. They say he had just robbed a man at gunpoint and were trying to stop him.

"You can tell just by looking at this crash, the speed was very high when he impacted his truck against the SUV," explained Lt. Kim Montes with the Florida Highway Patrol.  "The speed limit on that road is 35. It's possible he could have been doing as much as double the speed limit."

Winter Park police officers say a man walked into a chiropractor's office and robbed him at gunpoint.

"I had a gun against my head. I could have been shot, I could have been killed," said robbery victim Dr. Chris Turner.

Authorities are doing everything they can to find evidence in a stolen pickup which they said the suspect was driving at the time of the crash.

"Winter Park Police is processing the vehicle for any evidence -- fingerprints, any DNA -- so that may lead us to [the suspect]," Montes added.  "Clearly, this is somebody who doesn't care about anybody else being hurt. We need to get him off the streets before he does it again."

Lovre is hospitalized at Orlando Regional Medical Center, while her daughter is recovering at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
