Tree falls on Orlando man's home
ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Tuesday's storm caused quite a mess in Orlando.
One resident says lightning caused a tree limb to fall on his house.
"Total surprise," Gene Hodges said after a tree limb caused a gapping hole in the ceiling of his garage.
"The fire truck was here quickly," he said. "They secured the house and made sure everything was picked up in the attic. They released it and said, 'it's OK, it's safe.'"
It was right around 5 p.m. when Gene says he got a call about damage to his home.
It's on Country Club Oaks Circle, which is on the edge of College Park.
"My next door neighbor called to report a violent storm had come through here," Hodges said. "A lot of wind and lightning, and said, 'you wound up with a limp on your roof.'"
Gene says he's owned this home for 14 years and never had a problem.
He recently put it up on the market and was ready to sell until now.
"Closing was supposed to be on Friday," he said. "I don't know what it will do to it."
Hodges plans to contact his insurance agent and electrician to make repairs.
