A woman from Illinois was arrested in Lake County on her way back to the hotel she was staying at in The Villages, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Kathy Roth of Mokena, Illinois, was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with driving under the influence after the incident that unfolded on Griffin Avenue and Jeffrey Drive, according to an arrest affidavit.

The 59-year-old woman was clocked going 51 mph in a 35 mph zone and was subsequently stopped by a Lake County sergeant, the report said. The sergeant said he could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage from inside the vehicle.

He asked Roth why she was going so fast, to which she said she was coming from a bar on her way back to the UF Health Hospital, where she said she is a traveling nurse, according to the affidavit. Roth was reportedly slurring her words, which also had a slow cadence.

A deputy who retrieved Roth's phone said her GPS app was trying to take her to a hotel in The Villages.

When the sergeant asked Roth if she had been drinking, she said she "only had one drink," the report said. Roth also reportedly fumbled around the car for her registration and insurance.
