Traffic advisory issued as thousand expected in Downtown Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The City of Orlando has issued transportation advice for visitors coming to Downtown Orlando on Saturday. 

With several large scale events scheduled to take place Saturday, city officials sent an advisory for visitors and residents getting to and around the downtown area. 

In addition to the regular active downtown scene, some of the more significant events Saturday include the Bruno Mars concert at the Amway Center, Come Out with Pride Festival at Lake Eola Park, and the Championship game for the National Women's Soccer League at Orlando City Stadium. 

The city warns that construction of Ultimate I-4 and 408 will still be present and road closures will be in place related to some of these events. Detour signs will be posted before and along routes. 

Below are some recommended routes of travel from the city:

RECOMMENDED ROUTES TO DOWNTOWN:

The city recommends the following routes if traveling Downtown via highway:

Driving Directions from Interstate 4

Coming from the West on I-4:
Exit at Amelia Street (83A), take a right onto Amelia Street, then take a right onto Orange Avenue. Multiple city garages can be accessed on both the west and east side from Orange Avenue heading in this southbound direction.

Coming from the East on I-4:
Exit at Colonial (84), take a left onto Colonial, then a right onto Orange Avenue. Multiple city garages can be accessed from both the west and east side of Orange Avenue heading in this southbound direction.

Alternatively, after exiting at Colonial (84), proceed straight onto to Hughey Avenue. Multiple city garages can be accessed from both the west and east side of Hughey Avenue heading in this southbound direction. Please note that Hughey Avenue is closed between Church Street and South Street for the next 18 months.

Driving Directions from the 408

Coming from the East on 408:
Take the Rosalind Avenue exit (11A), turn left onto South Street, then right onto Magnolia Avenue. Multiple city garages can be accessed from both the west and east side of Magnolia Avenue heading in this northbound direction.

Coming from West on 408:
Take the Orange Avenue exit, (11B), turn left onto Mills Avenue, then left onto South Street, then right on Magnolia Avenue. Multiple city garages can be accessed from both the west and east side of Magnolia Avenue heading in this northbound direction.

Parking at city garages can be purchased in advance, ensuring a reserved parking space and allowing travelers to plan their specific route.

Recommended Parking Locations for Each Event:

Come Out With Pride Festival, Lake Eola Park
Come Out With Pride Festival will take place at Lake Eola Park from 12 – 10 p.m.
The Most Colorful Parade will take place from 4 – 6 p.m.

Event begins at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

  • Centroplex II: 441 Ron Blocker Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801

National Women’s Soccer League Championship, Orlando City Stadium
The match will begin at 4:30 p.m.

  • Orange Lot (ADA only): Located on the corner of South Terry Avenue and Central Boulevard
  • Grove Park Lot: Located on Central Boulevard between South Terry Avenue and Division Avenue
  • SunTrust Center Garage: 25 West South Street
