Titusville man killed in early morning wrong-way head-on collision
TITUSVILLE, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - The Titusville Police Department says that they are investigating a traffic crash in which a local man was killed in an early morning wrong-way head-on collision.
They say that about 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a report of a traffic crash with injuries involving two vehicles at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Birch Street.
Their preliminary investigation reportedly revealed that the victim, 84-year-old Melvin Merle McQuillen, was driving a white 2002 Cadillac DHS sedan and traveling northbound on Washington Avenue in the southbound lane. A green 2005 Ford F150 truck, driven by 55-year-old Hector Rodriguez, was traveling southbound on Washington Avenue. The cars collided head-on with the Cadillac, which was traveling the wrong way.
Police say that McQuillen was pronounced deceased on scene. Rodriguez was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There were no other injuries.
