Texas man wanted for allegedly divorcing wife without telling her

Authorities in Houston, Texas are searching for a man they said filed for divorce and finalized the paperwork without her knowledge.

Paul Nixon is currently wanted on suspicion of aggravated perjury.

"We rarely see something like this," Harris County Constable Mark Herman told The New York Post. "In this particular case, the gentleman decided to go through a divorce but the only problem is, he left his wife out of the process. And that's a violation of the law here in Texas."

According to the Harris County Constable, Nixon allegedly had filed obtained a divorce decree without his wife knowing.

On May 14, she contacted authorities with her suspicions.

"She started finding things showing that he was spending money on jewelry, so she confronted him and he told her that they were actually divorced."

Nixon had allegedly forged her signature on several documents to make the divorce final. The couple had reportedly only been married a couple of years.

The divorce decree has been retracted because it was obtained fraudulently, said Herman. Which means the couple is still legally married.

There is a no-bond warrant out for Nixon's arrest. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
