LA VERGNE, Tenn. - A Tennessee teacher was arrested after police found three children in the trunk of her car.
FOX 17 News in Nashville reported that Andria D. James, 33, was arrested by La Vergne Police at a gas station after a 911 call reported children in the trunk of the car. Officers said they removed the three children, range in age between 9 and 10, from the car when they arrived at the scene. Six more children around the same age were also found in the passenger seats.
Police said James is an elementary school teacher. She told officers the children were playing and ended up in the trunk when they stopped for pizza. Parents were called to pick up their children. No injuries were reported.
Tennessee law states all children under the age of 16 must wear a seat belt restraint and recommends placing children between the ages of 9 and 12 in the back seat.
James was booked into the Rutherford County Jail on three counts of reckless endangerment.
