Suspect apparently carjacks vehicle during Hayward chase

HAYWARD, Calif. (KTVU) - A chase began around noon Thursday in the East Bay. 

As Sky Fox flew over the chase the suspect was in a stolen red Equinox. The vehicle had been stolen from Alameda. 

At one point the suspect appeared to get out of the Equinox and into a white BMW convertible.

He appeared to carjack the vehicle as officers continued to follow him. According to authorities the suspect had climbed into the passenger seat and directed the driver to make a right turn.

Shortly after that, the driver yielded to police at Harder and Cypress and the suspect was taken into custody.
