Stewart sets stage for re-election bid

State Sen. Linda Stewart, D-Orlando, has taken an initial step toward running for re-election in 2020, joining at least nine of her fellow senators.

Stewart opened a campaign account this week to run for a second term in Orange County's Senate District 13, according to the state Division of Elections website.

Other senators have already started raising money for 2020 campaigns. They include Sen. Doug Broxson, R-Gulf Breeze; Sen. Travis Hutson, R-St. Augustine; Sen. Randolph Bracy, D-Orlando; Sen. Victor Torres, D-Orlando; Sen. Debbie Mayfield, R-Rockledge; Sen. Darryl Rouson, D-St. Petersburg; Sen. Greg Steube, R-Sarasota; Sen. Kevin Rader, D-Delray Beach; and Sen. Perry Thurston, D-Fort Lauderdale.

Also, Sen. Jose Javier Rodriguez, D-Miami, has an open Senate campaign account for 2020, though he is running for a congressional seat in 2018.
