DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - Investigators were back in Daytona Beach Shores on Wednesday morning, to figure out what went wrong with a plane that was forced to land on the sand.
The plane was towed away on Wednesday after plunging into the ocean on Tuesday. It was a frantic race to rescue the pilot and miraculously, he was pulled from the surf and rushed to the hospital. He is expected to be okay.
The pilot, identified as 75-year-old Richard Goosman, was the only person inside the small plane. He says he crashed into the water to avoid hitting people on the beach. Officials say that he ran out of fuel.
