Sheriff Jerry Demings to run for county mayor

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - After months of deliberation, Sheriff Jerry Demings has decided to run for Orange County Mayor during the 2018 election cycle.

Mayor Teresa Jacobs has reached her term limits, and therefore cannot run. 

Demings has completed 36 years of public service. He was the Orlando police chief from 1998 to 2002. He has been sheriff since 2008.
