Search for driver in deadly road rage incident

Friends of Salman Khan placed a cross in the grass next to the spot in the road where the 26-year-old man died  early Monday morning.

Orlando Police say there was a road rage incident 12:45 in the morning.  According to investigators, it happened on Windhover Drive, about a block off of Kirkman Road.

“I heard this morning.  I called his dad.  Sal always answers his phone when I call so when he didn’t answer I knew something was wrong,” said one woman who did not tell FOX 35 her name.

Investigators say “Sal” Khan stopped and got out of his car to confront the other driver and according to police the other driver hit Khan and left the scene.  Khan later died.

A group of Khan’s friends hugged and consoled each other after laying the cross, they all went to Dr. Phillips High School together.

“He was just a great guy. Somebody who once you knew him, you’d never forget him,” Rafael told FOX 35.

The unidentified woman showed FOX 35 a necklace she says Khan gave her last week.  She has a message for whoever killed her friend.  “The person that hit him is better off to turn yourself in, you’ve got a lot really angry people.”

Orlando Police investigators were checking with nearby businesses and looking at their surveillance video captured by outside cameras to see if the suspect or his car were captured.
