Schedule for arrival of President George H.W. Bush's public repose

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - After the remains of former President George H.W. Bush depart from Ellington Field, they will be taken to St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in west Houston where they are scheduled to arrive at 5:45 p.m. CST on Wednesday, Dec. 5.

SEQUENCE OF EVENTS:

  1. The commander of troops will bring the ceremonial elements to attention as the motorcade arrives.
  2. On cue, the body bearers will remove the casket from the hearse.
  3. The ceremonial elements will present arms and musical honors will be rendered (four Ruffles and Flourishes and Hail to the Chief), followed by the hymn, O God Our Help in Ages Past, composed by  William Croft.
  4. The casket will be carried through the honor cordon and placed on a bier at the entrance of the church. The family clergy will offer the prayers at the reception of the body.
  5. Members of the procession will proceed into the church in the following order: cross and torches, military and civilian clergy, national color, casket and the presidential color.
  6. The casket will be positioned on a bier at the front of the church with colors posted. The guard of honor will be posted.
  7. President Bush will lie in repose with a guard of honor in attendance until Thursday, Dec. 6, at 6 a.m. CST.
