Safe containing baby's ashes stolen
ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A father says a thief shattered a glass window to his home, entered the house and then stole a safe containing his baby's ashes.
Surveillance shows a man taking off, stealing a safe and getting away in a car. It happened on Monday at around 10:30 a.m. Orange County sheriff's deputies say they have evidence which hoped will help them nab the thief.
"What was in the safe was money and personal belongings, but my son's ashes was in there," said Vincenzo Siciliano. "Everything else is replaceable but that isn't."
Siciliano said an urn and a moon-shaped keychain, which both held ashes of his late son, were in the safe. Baby Logan died three years ago from SIDS. He was only seven weeks old, and the love of this father's life.
"It's killing me, because I don't have anything left of him. The urn was black and it had gold engraving and it was a heart shaped urn."
He said the thieves probably don't even realize the value of what's inside the safe.
"They could think it's a piece of junk and throw it out. I pray to God not. I'm at a loss for words. It's crazy someone would do that."
An alleged accomplice is also seen outside the front door moments before the break-in Vincenzo hopes the strangers are caught, but even more he hopes they bring his baby home.
"Just please return it. If they could put it on my front door step."
