Road rage incident ends with officer-involved shooting

LAKE MARY, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - Gunfire rang out on Tuesday in a busy Lake Mary shopping center during 'Kid's Night' at Jeremiah's Italian Ice.

Witnesses say they heard two rounds of gunfire in the parking lot of the Italian ice shop around 7 p.m. The white SUV was said to be involved in a road-rage incident moments before they were confronted by police.

The Lake Mary Police arrived quickly and tried to get the individual to come out of his vehicle. However, when he exited, he was brandishing a firearm, at which point the officers engaged him and fired.

The identity of the man shot by police following the road-rage incident has yet to be released.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
