Port Canaveral picks new chief
PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — A Tampa shipping executive has been chosen to be the next chief executive of Port Canaveral.
Port commissioners on Friday picked Capt. John Murray to replace outgoing CEO John Walsh. Murray is the president and CEO of Hapag-Lloyd USA, a shipping company that operates 150 container ships.
Walsh announced he was resigning last year after he came under fire for making disparaging remarks about critics. He later apologized for calling the opponents of constructing new train tracks from the port "Luddites."
