Police investigate possible attempt to lure child

Ormond Beach police officers are investigating after an allegation that two strangers attempted to lure a child who was on a bicycle traveling to school.

The incident is said to have happened around 7 a.m. on North Ridgewood Avenue.  The child did not approach the suspects and continued bicycling toward Ormond Beach Elementary School.

The child was allegedly followed by the same suspects until the child approached the area of the school, at which point, the suspects turned around and left.  The child did attend school and returned home safely after classes ended today. The incident was reported at the end of the school day.

The suspects are described as two white men, 30s to 40s in age.  Both have short, shaved hair (or possibly bald), not wearing shirts.  They were traveling in an older, single-cab truck, with no color or other features known.

The public is urged to remain aware of this situation and report any similar activity to 911 immediately.  Authorities said they will be stepping up patrols in the area.
