Police: Body cam catches murder in progress in Baltimore

Baltimore police released dramatic body cam video of what they say is a murder in progress.

It happened back in April when a Baltimore police officer dealing with a landlord, tenant dispute suddenly heard shots ring out and sprints toward the gunfire.

The video shows the officer running toward the scene and then loud screams are also heard. Police say a gun-toting man emerged from an alley nearby and was confronted by the officer who demanded he put the gun down and get on the ground.

The suspect appears to comply and the officer then calls for backup. Shortly after a patrol car arrived and the officer directed them to an alley where the alleged shooting took place.

According to police, a 30-year-old man and 69-year-old male suffered gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Police say 30-year-old Walter Baynes succumbed to his injuries at Johns Hopkins Hospital shortly after arrival.

17-year-old Eric Gilyard was formally charged with 1st Degree Murder, 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Attempted Murder, 2nd Degree Attempted Murder, as well as related firearms charges, according to police.

Gilyard is currently at Central Booking Intake Facility. Gilyard was denied bail.
