Pedestrian struck by train in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a freight train in Daytona Beach Monday night. 

The scene of incident was at where the tracks intersect with George W. Engram Blvd.  Authorities have identified the victim as Darius K. Alexander.  

The initial investigation revealed the train was traveling southbound when Alexander was on his bicycle and tried to beat the train across the tracks. Authorities say Alexander went around the crossing gate and was the struck and killed by the train.
